Background info: Though this song is associated with Mexican culture, it is believed to have been brought from Spain to the Americas in the 16th century. It has been associated with the Cursillo movement, beginning in Spain in 1944 and it continues now. It has also used as the unofficial anthem of the United Farm Workers union.
